Today I've spent a large amount of time very quiet and very still.

It was about time.

  1. LOL.
    Laundry x5?
    Dishes x5?
    Messes x4 (not mine!)
    Dog = spoiled/demanding
    Volunteering (OM, Vollyball, Youth Chorale, TACK Lab, PTO, Youth Group, Women's Ministry, SS Class, etc.)
    Professional wiper (used to be bottoms but not it's teen messes of other sorts)
    Phones for hubby's business and mine
    Paperwork shuffling (you can't imagine permission slips, registration forms, order forms, fund raisers, calendars)
    And more…
    NO, I don't have opportunity to get to a quiet place.
    I've often said if I could, I would just go check in a local hotel for the weekend, put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. I'd take a couple books, some bubble bath, my favorite CD (if I had one), and turn off my cellular phone. I'd want a late Sunday check-out though.

  2. Yep. They do have chores.
    But at their ages, the chores still require me prodding and convincing them that it's good for them. They aren't "there yet" with seeing a need and taking care of it. They'd walk all around it, through it, and lay in it if I don't tell them to pick something up and put it away. Besides, that still wouldn't be "alone" for me.
    I don't know if you saw it hidden within my vox post but I gave you a glimpse of "alone" for me. : ) I experienced it briefly.

  3. when you're single and freelancing, it's easy to take quiet moments for granted. when you're married and have kids, silence and rest is like winning the lottery sometimes. oh for moments such as these. (silence and rest that is. although winning the lottery isn't such a bad idea.)
